It is important to follow the manufacturers' instructions when using child car seats. Children under the age of 8 or under 4'9″ must be secured in the appropriate car seat or booster seat in the back seat. The washington child passenger restraint law (rcw 46.61.687) requires the following: Children under 13 years old be transported in the back seat where it is practical to do so.
